Originally used by religious campers in the 1840’s, Flower Mound was first permanently inhabited in the 1850’s. Despite it’s current population of nearly 65,000 people, it remains a “town” with the resident’s desire to NOT be a large city like so many of it’s neighboring cities. That central core value has kept the over-commercialization from taking over the prime location leaving the real estate for residential ownership. You might think Flower Mound has been around a long, time, but in fact, it was not incorporated until 1961. Growth was slow until 1974 with the development of DFW International. Growth over the years has been steady and impressive. 2000 census reports recorded 50,702 residents and the 2010 census showed a 28% increase to a population of 64,699 making Flower Mound a smart decision for a prospective homebuyer.
The Flower Mound, is a reserved area near the intersection of FM 1171 and FM 3040 in the NE corner. Each spring it and the many other pastoral settings throughout town are popular places for families to take photographs in the blooming blue bonnets.
